Join me in the Inaugural SIX:02 6k Run on Nov 15 th

If you didn't know this about me,  I run on a regular basis.  I wouldn’t consider myself great or even fast, but it is something I have consistently done since 2011 to stay in shape.  I have never been a long distance runner either, but I usually knock out 2-3 miles, three times a week.  I have always  wanted to run long distances but I always seem to sabotage myself mentally.  It literally takes the smallest thing to ruin my run!  For example, If I don’t run a certain route, have the right music on, or get interrupted by a phone call, it could totally crush my end goal.  One thing that definitely helps me mentally, is wearing a brand new outfit!  There's something so motivating about putting on a fresh new pair of shoes and hitting the pavement!  On today's run, I wore an outfit from SIX:02  and I swear I ran a 4 miler, no lie!  Sigh...now only if I could wear a new outfit every day!

So while vacationing in Capri recently over my birthday, I told my husband that I am making two goals for myself. The first would be to run White Rock Lake (9 miles) without stopping, and the second would be to complete a 1/2 marathon.  I am practically a race virgin except for the Susan G Komen “Race For The Cure.” I did it with my family and I’m pretty sure we walked and yapped the whole way, so I can't really count that!  Needless to say, if I am going to complete these two goals, I've got some serious training to do!

What better way to build up my mileage than to run in a local 5 or 6k?  When I came across the announcement that SIX:02, a women’s retail fitness store was putting on it’s very first 6k, I had to sign up!  If you haven't heard, SIX:02 is THE place to go if you are looking for the coolest new “fitness fashion.”  They have a great variety of shoes, clothes, gear and more, by some of the hottest brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour and more.  Not only is SIX:02 a women's premier retail fitness destination, but it is also a business that takes pride in helping women feel good about their appearance, love their work out, and also helps them to achieve their goals by offering inspiration and advice.

  1. Boooo. I just wrote you this long comment and it got deleted. Whatever. Short version is this.. I totally wish I could join you but I'm running Woman's Half for the Baton Rouge Woman's Hospital that day. :( I am super proud of you for running. It has changed my life in the most positive ways. It's never really easy, but there's something therapeutic about challenging the body to get out of its comfort zone in extreme ways. Get yourself a pace watch (Garmin has some great ones but I use Nike) to keep up with your time and mileage, especially since you're training for a half. You can do it! You look fabulous. Let's run together soon. Please feel free to ask me any questions, and go Ash go!
