Valentine's Day Looks

Well, well, well...it's that time of year again!  The day most people love...or love to hate. The one day men could care less about because they view it as an overly-hyped, made up day created by Hallmark, chocolate companies and florist's who encourage you to go out and spend money on junk, just to keep yourself out of the dog house.  It's also a day that makes the singles cringe and feel as though they are living in pure hell.  Oh you know what it is....why Valentines Day of course!

While some of you may have this negative opinion of Valentines Day, there is a large percentage of us who happen to like this made up holiday! I for the matter happen to be one of those people who does enjoy it (I know, sue me)!  The reason I love it is purely for the fact that I have an excuse to drink champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.... JOKING (sort of), but here are my questions to the cupid haters: 1. If you are in a relationship, why wouldn't you want to spend a day with your significant other celebrating the love you share?  2. If you are single, why wouldn't you use this day to celebrate the many loved ones in your life?  I know you may say "well, that's what anniversaries, birthdays and mother/father's day is for," and I do agree, but those day's only come a few times a year!  With the constant day to day routines and busy lives we possess, we sometimes forget what's most important!  I welcome any extra day of the year that makes us stop and take the time to celebrate the special relationships we have.

For the single ladies & men out there, change the way you view Valentines Day!  Don't think of it as a day where you must be in a relationship or otherwise you fall under "loser status".  It can be a day where you spend time with your mother, father, brother, sister, grandparents, children, nieces, nephews, best friends etc. to let them know that you love and appreciate them. For those of you who may be taken, but absolutely hate V day because of the stress of buying the perfect gift... A simple handmade card, love letter, or sweet gesture goes a long way.  I find that the sweetest gifts are experiences that you and your loved one can share together.  Whether its cooking at the house and opening a bottle of wine or going sky diving, just being together and celebrating your love is what's important. So see.... it's not so bad! It's all in the way you think.

For this Valentines Day, I have the pleasure of spending the evening not only with my hub, but my mom and dad as well.  My parents are driving in from Louisiana to see Scott and I for the weekend and we are going to cook dinner at our home and spend the evening together. What are you all planning?

In honor of the big day I wanted to create some outfits to inspire you!  Below I have put together four different looks, all with a different mood an style.  So Whether you are a Valentine's lover or hater, I've got just the inspiration for you!

1.  For the Lover

For the girl who wants to show the world she's in love!  She's excited about the holiday and plans on spending a special day with her man. This look is a match made in heaven for the occasion with shades of red, pink and a soft powder blue.  I basically styled this look around the pant. They are relaxed, yet cool and I just love the color, don't you?  This shade of blue plays well with the red and pinks.   Don't be so quick to turn down the wide leg trouser this season though... You will be seeing a lot of them  and if worn correctly they can actually make you appear slimmer!  Who in the heck doesn't want that?  Just a few tips on how to wear them:  Choose a higher waisted pant that fits perfectly at the top to give you a longer silhouette. You can even add a belt to help accentuate your waist resulting in an even slimmer looking appearance.

For you pear shaped gal's, the wide leg works well for you because they draw attention to your ankles giving your hips a narrower appearance.  If you are short or mid height you can pair them with a sexy tall wedge or heel like the Valentino rock stud satin pumps that I have chosen here.  You've got to be off your rocker if you don't think these shoes are to die for!  I have a pair in black and I find that they work with almost every thing in my closet.  Great investment! If you are tall, wear with kitten heels, pointy toe flats and ballet flats. Remember to keep the hem barely sweeping the floor.

I added a silk cami to this look because it gives just the right amount of sexy and pink is THE color right now!  If you don't have any in your closet, get some NOW. When choosing a top for your wide legs, make sure it's nothing too baggy.  You already have baggy going on down below, you don't need more on top!  Due to the cold crazy weather you shouldn't leave the house without something to cover you.  So when I saw this MSGM silk jacket I couldn't help myself, it just screams V Day!  I'm really excited about MSGM lately...CUSP carries it and the pieces that have been arriving are so darn fab!  Last but not least, a classic red Dior lip and muted eyes with a dash of sparkle for the occasion.  Bobbi Brown, you always do it right girl!

Silk Cami & Trousers Malene Birger, MSGM Printed Duchess Satin Coat, Valentino Satin Rockstud Slingback Pumps, Dior "Rouge Dior" Lipstick Zinnia Red 743, Bobbi Brown Nude Glow eye palette.

2. For the Hater

I put together this look for the single girl who wants to give Valentines Day the bird! She's ready to show the world she's not going to sit home and cry over her single status, she's just over it and ready to hit the town for a "no men allowed" girls night out. There are several things I adore about this outfit.  Let's start from the bottom and work our way up. I chose a red leather lace up sandal that really pops and catches the eye.  What color do you think of when your feeling angry because it's Valentines Day?  Red, exactly.. Moving on!  Since I'm making a bold statement with my heels, I need a jean that will compliment and really show them off.  Hence, the mid rise boyfriend jean.  I'm really feeling the distressed look of these.  It really add's to the overall the tough girl theme.

Boyfriend jeans are very versatile, whether ripped or not.  Wear them now with cute blazers and scarfs and carry them into the spring and summer months with cute tops.  That beautiful creme mint polish is part of Deborah Lippmann's spring collection.  Love the name..."Flowers In Her Hair."  Reminds me of the Lumineers!  For the tee I have shown, I just wanted something that screamed polar opposite of V day... remember, this chick is boycotting love tonight!

Stella McCartney's signature Falabella cross body bag in Camoflauge is unexpectedly cool.  I haven't really gotten into the whole Duck Dynasty craze... but when I saw this I flipped!  I don't think camo has ever looked this good!  Next, if you look closely you will see the Rebecca Minkoff Crystal Hand Chain. These hand chains are so beautiful and really stand out.  Lastly, I think the blazer pulls the whole look together and of course you need pink for the season and something warm to cover your shoulders.  This girl will look so good, she won't be able to keep the boys away!

Charline De Luca Regina Leather Lace-Up Sandals, Current/Elliott The Boyfriend cropped mid-rise jeans,  Nail Polish Deborah Lippmann Spring Reveries Nail Collection "Flowers In Your Hair",  Ksubi Printed cotton-jersey top, Stella McCartney 'Falabella - Camo' Crossbody Bag, Rebecca Minkoff Crystal Hand Chain, Malene Birger Brinda satin-trimmed stretch-jersey blazer.

3. For the Flirt

For the flirty girl! You may be single or taken but you no matter your status, your naturally flirty and confident personality charms those around you.   The flirt in my mind, definitely shines and lights up a room! When creating this look, I knew exactly the skirt I wanted to work with and that is this adorable Alice & Olivia maxi.  The color is great for Valentines Day and I imagine the movement is beyond stunning because it is made from chiffon.  Definitely head turner worthy!

The polka dot crop top is also Alice & Olivia.  It adds some playfulness to the look and also plays on the "short story" spring trend.  Yes girls, step up your ab work out because crop tops are all over the place.  Of course the flirty girl is confident enough to rock the crop, so she's not worried! I chose a naked sandal because those too are on trend this season.  I know it's cold out, but hey... you have a long maxi to help keep those toes warm!  Or maybe this girl is living in Cali and isn't freezing like the rest of us!

The book shown is not a book, It is a Olympia Le-Tan Love Story embroidered clutch. SO CUTE!  If you go online to Net A Porter, you can choose from a few different stories!  I chose the Love story due to the fact that duh.. its Valentines Day!  Same thing goes for the pink heart stud earrings.  To wrap around your shoulder's I styled this lively abstract scarf by DVF.  Mixing prints is an art but make sure you stay in a similar color family when doing so. The Cat eye glasses have been seen all over lately and add stylish sophistication.  Last but not least a touch of brightness in the beauty department.

Alice + Olivia Ava High waist Leather Waistband Pleat Maxi Skirt, Alice & Olivia Polka dot top, Sophia Webster Nicole leather and printed canvas sandals, Olympia Le-Tan Love Story embroidered clutch, River Island Pink heart stud earrings, Diane von Furstenberg Hanovar Scarf, ASOS Cat Eye Sunglasses, Nail color "Tapage", Lip color by "136 Melodieuse", Blush "67 Chamade" by Chanel

4. For the Chic Vixen

The chic vixen is classic and sophisticated, but still isn't scared to try out a trend now and then. She is never overly loud with her style and sometimes exhibits a bit of sexy. For this look I went for a mix of trends, The Shirt Chic and all White or LWD (Little white dress).  There is something so hot to me about a crisp white shirt..but a crisp white shirt dress? O.M.G. You are sure to have your man drooling at the dinner table...and it definitely won't be the filet mignon!

I added an ankle wrap naked sandal to give the "All white everything" effect.  I know what you must be thinking? Really? White shoes?  I hate to break it to you sister, but white shoes are back on the map! Keeping with the pink trend, I added a cross body Saint Laurent bag, and Deborah Lippman nail color, "Tiny Dancer".  Oh, and what's Valentines Day without a little lacey lingerie!  Even if you don't have a Valentine, you can still feel sexy all day long.  The heart shaped blush is adorable for the holiday and will give you a pretty glow.  To finish it off, splash a bit of Tory Burch's brand new fragrance on for a little pick me up!

Tsumori Chisato Contrast Collar Shirtdress, Women's d'Orsay Ankle-Wrap Sandal, Dove Gray - Jason Wu, Saint Laurent Cassandre Small Tassel Crossbody Bag Pink, Lingerie sold at Net a porter (sold out), Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer "Tiny Dancer," Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush, Something About Berry, Tory Burch Eau De Parfum Spray

Well, thats it for my Valentine inspired looks!  I hope you got some great ideas for your V day outfit.  Let me know which one is your favorite!  Thank you for reading and Happy Valentines Day to you all!

XO- Ashley
